Education Activities

Ecology Education

Many organizations are involved in this education curriculum for 6th - 8th grade students in the state of ND.

• In September, we meet with the youth to promote ecology education.
• These camps are held at Sully's Hill.

Arbor Day: We meet with youth at schools to promote the importance of trees in ND and students are given trees to take home.

Lake Region Round Up: This is an outreach education to surrounding areas on our programs and their benefits that we present each year in January.

Eco Ed Program
September 11-12, 2012

The statewide Eco Ed Program is aone day program that teaches students about the environment. They visited 8 different stations throughout the day. The stations talked about the following topics:

Water Quality

The beginning of the day began with a Birds of Prey demonstration by Greg Brooks.

In 2012, Ramsey & Benson County Soil Conservation Districts joined together to organize an Eco Ed one day camp at Sullys Hill. The camp was a huge success. We had 8 schools participate from the two couties and over 260 students!

The Ramsey and Benson county SCD's would like to thank all of the schools, teachers, chaperones, bus drivers, facilitators and the Sullys Hill staff for making the day possible!

NDASCD Convention

November 20-22, 2011

The annual NDASCD Convention was held in Bismarck November 19-20. The convention kicked off with an inspirational service Sunday night. Monday was filled with sessions on grazing, conservation trees, soil health, and shelterbelt restoration. Monday evening was the recognition banquet where Scot and Pam Brekke and Ryan and Melissa Brekke were presented with their Achievement Award. After the banquet was an auction that featured donations from districts across the state. The Ramsey County SCD donated a handpainted canoe paddle valued at $60.00. Tuesday began with an awards breakfast honoring supervisors and district employees for their years of service and also awarding the top districts in tree sales. The convention ended Tuesday with an official business meeting.
